April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month

Thank you, 2018 Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month Sponsors and In-Kind Donors!

2018 Events

April 6 – Blue Friday – Local businesses are invited to encourage employees to wear blue to honor all victims of child abuse and those dedicated to helping them and their families.  Smith County’s annual Child Abuse Awareness Proclamation Day will be hosted by Tyler Independent School District at Griffin Elementary from 12:00-12:30 pm, where there will be a short program and a balloon release.

April 19 – UT Tyler Blue Day – The UT Tyler Women’s Soccer Team is helping the cause by encouraging students to wear blue to class, and will provide a slice of pizza, courtesy of Marco’s Pizza, to the first 100 students wearing blue at the Children’s Advocacy Center booth in the University Center between 101:00 am – 3:00 pm.  Information about CAC’s volunteer opportunities will be available.

April 24 – East Texas Giving Day – The CAC will participate in East Texas Communities Foundation’s 18-hour Giving Day that provides critical funds to area non-profits. A lead gift of $5,000 has been donated by WRL General Contractors, Ltd. to encourage community businesses and individuals to join the fight against child abuse.  In addition, Chuy’s in Tyler will host a “Give Back Day”, where a portion of their day’s proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County when customers present the CAC Giveback Day Facebook ad or CAC flyer.

April 29 – Blue Sunday – Smith County churches are asked to observe an international day of awareness among faith communities for Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month.  Congregations will pray for victims and their families, and offer financial support for CAC’s programs and services.
