Giving Tuesday

November 27th, 2018 is Giving Tuesday, “a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration that kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving”. It is an incredibly impactful day that helps connect generous hearts to organizations in their community who need their support.

This year, Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County joined in with a social media campaign and by setting a goal to reach on Giving Tuesday.

Our campaign goal aimed to provide our clients with the opportunity to express their feeling through art. Oftentimes, it can be difficult for children to express how they feel, in words, about the trauma that has taken place, so our therapists use creative techniques like painting or drawing to help with this. One way our therapists use this technique is utilizing blank masks and various art supplies like band-aids or feathers for the child to illustrate how they view themselves before they begin therapy and then again after they have graduated from the therapy program. The first mask is often dark, scary, and sad but the final mask shows growth and healing through bright colors and whimsical patterns. It is powerful for a child to see their healing displayed right in front of them through the before-treatment mask and graduation mask.

Every child that walks through our doors is unique and we want to provide the proper care and opportunities that are best for that child in particular so that they can work through their trauma and heal.

Wow! We are blown away by all the support the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County received during #GivingTuesday. We are grateful to everyone who shared and contributed to our campaign goal.
Through giving on our website and on Facebook, $1,525 was given for much-needed art supplies for our therapy team! Your support of the CAC ensures that the most vulnerable in our community have a voice and we could not provide the services we do without YOU.
Every child that walks through our doors is unique and we want to be sure and provide what is best for each child. Our ability to accomplish this is only through the generosity of our partners in hope!
Your gifts, one-time, monthly, volunteer, or in-kind, ensure child victims of abuse have the ongoing resources they need to begin the healing process.
Thank you for your caring heart for kids in our community.

And you can still help today!
