Recognizing & Reporting
For or professionals who work with children ages 0-17, as well as parents and the community-at-large, Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County offers training on recognizing and reporting child abuse.
The curriculum educates adults about the realities of child abuse, equipping participants to appropriately respond to abuse in their homes, schools, and businesses. Adults are taught child abuse facts, including how to recognize the physical and behavioral signs of all forms of child abuse, how to respond to an outcry of abuse from a child, and the legal mandates on reporting abuse in Smith County and the State of Texas. For every adult educated on child abuse, ten children are made safer from the dangers of such abuse.
Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County offers a 1.5 hour seminar at no cost to participants. Contact the Director of Community Education, Rubyth@cacsmithcounty.org, to schedule training and/or a speaker for your business, community organization, day care or church group.
